Milton Keynes Islamic Arts and Culture is a national award-winning charity working in Buckinghamshire. We are inspired by Islamic arts, heritage and culture that encompasses both traditional and contemporary art forms. MKIAC covers a broad spectrum of inclusive arts-based events throughout the year. We are at the forefront of inclusion and diversity for the creative sector in Milton Keynes.
The establishment of MKIAC was prompted by the 9/11 incident in 2002, and we focus on using the arts as a vehicle to overcome societal divisions and provide a sense of community in our city.
MKIAC will be participating in Milton Keynes Heritage Open Days, a rich programme of events, which take place this year from 9th to 18th September.
Who Are We?" The Stories of Migration to Milton Keynes is the result of the MKIAC Building Communities and Community Buildings: The Heritage of community centres and communities in MK project, which began in July 2021. The exhibition focus is on oral histories of MK residents who first came to to live in the 'new city' in the 1970's and more recently in the noughties. There is exisiting local history, oral history recordings and much written about Milton Keynes. This project sought to gather oral histories, particularly those voices that are not often recorded, archived, heard, but who have nevertheless contributed in different ways to the development and the success of Milton Keynes.
MKIAC delivers a diverse range of arts projects to promote shared learning, community cohesion and cultural understanding.
MKIAC is a not for profit organisation. We'd like to thank our supporters who enable us to produce high quality of arts delivery in Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas.
